The Celeste goalkeeper may have had a hand, literally, in keeping the Ghana goal-count down to one but he has earned his place in the team thanks to two saves in the shoot-out. John Mensah and Dominic Adiyiah were denied by the Lazio netminder and his reactions allow Uruguay to take their place in the final four for the first time in 40 years.
Sergio Ramos - Spain
Might have scored the winner in a parallel universe, but had his effort from close range cleared off the line in the second half. The Real Madrid defender offered good attacking support on the right flank during the narrow win over Paraguay and never had too many problems in defense.
