
Sixty years after the U.S. makes a surprise defeat in the World Cup when England, Uncle Sam's team is back trying to repeat the same success in their opening match in World Cup 2010 South Africa.
Since the draw placed them in Group C along with Slovenia and Algeria, the U.S. and UK had to square off against each other at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg capacity of 42 000 on June 12 next.
From the historical meeting of two countries, England is still winning with a 7-2 record. Their first defeat occurred in 1950 Brazil World Cup on June 29 in Belo Horizonte with a score of 0-1.

"Our team has the talent like England? Probably not. But we feel that we are confident that one day we got a chance to beat them," said Landon Donovan, manager of U.S. attacks.
U.S. players are really hoping to be able to bring back the spirit of their predecessors of the past, to the extent they use costumes such as the U.S. team uniform at the 1950 World Cup, which is complete with a gray sash across the front.
"I think this is something special because we will have a style uniform with a sash and says a lot for the team," said Bradley.
"I think victory in 1950 was still fresh in memory and be proud of. So ironically enough also because we will open the World Cup in 2010 dealing with the British," he said.
Walter Bahr, who captained the U.S. team at the 1950 World Cup was, stating his belief that England are still considering their defeat.
"England was wearing a blue uniform when the historic defeat of the United States in 1950. Until now, they never again use a blue uniform," said Bahr.
Both UK and U.S. both failed to escape from the group stage at the time, but England then managed to get up to appear as World Cup champion in 1966 when they appeared as the host.
Although the return of international victory over England in 1965, the U.S. and then never again qualify for the World Cup finals until 1990.
Since returning to stage the World Cup, the U.S. has a win-lose record of 3-12, with a 1-9 record when facing teams from Europe. The only victory was when they beat Portugal 3-2 in their first match in World Cup 2002.
Another victory occurred in the United States for England friendly match with the score 2-0 in Foxboro, Massachusetts.
At their last meeting in 2008 at Wembley Stadium, England won 2-0.
