Venue guide: Ellis Park

Ellis Park Stadium

Ellis Park Stadium is located central Johannesburg and is one of two stadiums in the city that will host South Africa 2010 matches. Usually used for both rugby and football matches, the stadium underwent a massive $50 million renovation to bring up to strict FIFA guidelines. New upper tiers were added behind each goal which raised the stadium's seating capacity to 62,000.

The original Ellis Park opened in 1928 and in 1982 was demolished and rebuilt to its current form. In 2009 Ellis Park hosted the FIFA Confederations Cup final between Brazil and the United States.

Ellis Park will host five first round matches, second round game and one quarterfinal at South Africa 2010.
