Valencia star David Villa has revealed that he wants to face Lionel Messi's Argentina in the World Cup final in South Africa
Villa, who is rumoured to be joining Messi at Barcelona after the World Cup, has admitted he wants to face his soon-to-be club-mate in the showpiece final on July 11.
The 28-year-old, who is one of the favourites to claim the Golden Boot Award in South Africa, has spoken of his admiration for the 2009 Fifa World Player of the Year but believes a Spain Argentina final would be a fitting tribute to the greatest game in world football.
"We (Villa and Messi) are hoping that we play against each other in South Africa, but we would like it if we both got to the final, without meeting each other in the early stages," said Villa.

"A Spain against Argentina final would be good, and may the best team win."
Should either one of the two sides fail to top their group but still qualify in second place, then Spain and Argentina would be set on a collision course for the final.
After tackling Switzerland in their group opener, Spain will play further Group H games against Honduras and Chile whilst Argentina were drawn in Group B alongside Nigeria, Korea Republic and Greece.
Meanwhile Liverpool striker Fernando Torres remains a major doubt for Spain's World Cup opener against Switzerland - but is putting in the hours in a bid to be fit.
The 26-year-old underwent an operation on his right knee last month and is now working six hours a day in a bid to face the Swiss on June 16.
And Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta is hoping to be fit for the final game of the season on Sunday to help his side retain the Primera Division title.
The Spain star has been out of action for more than a month but having come through training unscathed on Tuesday is looking good to be fit for South Africa.
